The semifinals of this year’s Nedbank Cup have been confirmed, and there could be a new name on the trophy once the final whistle has been blown in May.
Bidvest Wits knocked out Real Kings, Mamelodi Sundowns beat Highlands Park, Baroka triumphed over Black Leopards, and Bloemfontein Celtic saw off TS Sporting as they all booked their spot in the final four, with the draw taking place earlier this afternoon.
Sundowns were drawn against Wits in the bigger of the two games in Gauteng, while Baroka will host Celtic in Limpopo on dates and at venues set to be confirmed at a later date.
Masandawana are by far the most successful of the teams still in the tournament having won it four times over the years (although two of those wins came in the Bob Save Super Bowl and Mainstay Cup), while the Clever Boys have two victories – one Nedbank and one Mainstay.
Celtic have never won the trophy in its current guise as the Nedbank Cup, but did win the Mainstay back in 1985, while Baroka have never made the final of this tournament but did lift the Telkom Knockout recently in 2018.
Which two teams do you think will be in the Nedbank Cup final?
