No Seeding For Nedbank: Chiefs Could Face Pirates
With there being no seeding in the Nedbank Cup quarter-final draw and both Soweto giants in the hat, there could be a potential Soweto Derby on the cards.
Both Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates are in the quarter-finals of the Nedbank Cup this year for the first time since 2014, as the Amakhosi take aim at a record 14th win in the competition, with the Buccaneers going for their ninth.
It was confirmed by the PSL today that the draw, which takes place at 19h30 tonight, will not be seeded, meaning that anybody can face anybody in the last eight.
SuperSport, the reigning champions, made it to this stage after beating KwaDukuza United in the Round of 16, while Jomo Cosmos are the only club flying the flag for the lower leagues in South Africa.
The teams in the quarterfinal draw are as follows:
Pirates beat Chiefs in the first round of the Nedbank Cup last year but lost in the final against Matsatsantsa.
