Mamelodi Sundowns’ Teko Modise has cooled talk of potentially going all the way in the Nedbank Cup this year, saying it is too early to discuss lifting the trophy.
Sundowns were the first PSL team to progress through to the next stage of the Nedbank Cup after beating ABC Motsepe League-outfit, Mariveni United, 2-0 at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in their opening encounter.
Speaking to his officila website, Modise, who played an influential role in the team’s victory on the day, has welcomed any opponent for the Round of 16 of the Nedbank Cup and talked down the possibility of lifting the cup at the end of the campaign.
“We are professionals and will just wait to know who to face next. We do not wish to get any specific team so we welcome whoever we will have to face. As for thinking of lifting the trophy, it is too early to even think of that. We are through to the next round and will take it a game at a time,” Modise told his official website last week.
The Nedbank Cup last 16 draw will take place on Thursday, March 16, as SuperSport United, Bidvest Wits, Chippa United and Platinum Stars will only play their opening Nedbank Cup fixtures this coming Wednesday.
