Kaizer Chiefs head  coach Steve Komphela was happy with the performance but believes they lost possession too cheaply in a few instances.

Chiefs shrugged off a disappointing opening half to come back strong in the second stanza to earn a 3-0 win over Golden Arrows in the Nedbank Cup last 32 on Sunday.

With Itumeleng Khune walking away with the man of the match award, the whole team deserved the plaudits.

“Two different halves. We’re happy with our performance and goals we scored. Compliments should not only go to Itu but the rest of the team. Though we gave the ball away cheaply in some instances and we need to improve on that," Komphela told SuperSport after the game,

“We need to play with more confidence because when you play with confidence it makes you make less erratic mistakes, but we’re happy with this result and let’s build on it and move on,” he said post-match.

In relation to Khune’s comment that he had a go at them during the break, Komphela explains the reason behind it, citing as ‘tough love’.

“I’m a loving person. You can never love if you don’t lead if you don’t love. It’s not a tongue-lashing. Its’ tough love.

“If you love your kids and they commit errors that are fundamental you come across and rectify that. So I thought we rectified a few things because we were not who were suppose to be in the first half,” he said.
