Nedbank Cup
Stars Wary Of Chiefs’ Cup Slayers

Roger de Sa says that Platinum Stars are wary of Baroka in the Nedbank Cup, remembering how Bakgaga made their name in the competition against Kaizer Chiefs.
Dikwena host Baroka on Wednesday as the two clubs battle it out for a spot in the next round of the competition, and De Sa is eager for the victory and confidence it could bring.
He is, however, aware of Baroka’s threat and the fact that the Nedbank holds a special place for them following their shock victory over Kaizer Chiefs back in 2011.
De Sa said in a statement, “Cups can turn your season around. We are going to give a couple of players rest but our priority is to win the game. We are definitely going to give it our best shot.
“Baroka made a name for themselves in this competition. Remember they knocked Kaizer Chiefs out some years ago. It’s a competition that they really enjoy. We know it’s going to be a difficult one. We want to go as far as we can. Our priority is to win.”
De Sa admitted that they will be using the cup to test a few combinations that their precarious league position hasn’t allowed them to do, saying, “It gives us an opportunity to try out two or three players. It’s a game that there’s not much pressure compared to the league. We will try out a few combinations with a couple of players. It’s important that we keep the rhythm going and from our last game against Chippa.
“It’s a bit of a juggle and hopefully we can make the right choices.”
The game is set to take place on Wednesday night at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace.
