Goals from Ryan Moon, Bernard Parker and Joseph Molangoane handed Kaizer Chiefs a 3-0 win over Golden Arrows in the Nedbank Cup last 32.
Willard Katsande had a chance to give Amakhosi the lead in the seventh minute, when he was left unmarked at the back post, but he could not direct his header on target.
Leonardo Castro got past a few players to create space to unleash a strike in the 14th minute, but his shot was saved by goalkeeper Maximilian Mbaeva.
Clinton Larsen was forced into a change in the 18th minute, as Kudakwashe Mahachi got injured and was replaced by Nduduzo Sibiya.
The tempo of the match slowed down towards half-an-hour following a bright start from the two teams.
Knox Mutizwa almost broke the deadlock seven minutes before time, with a curling shot from long range but, Itumeleng Khune did well to parry his effort that look destined for the top corner.
The Glamour Boys were patient with their build-ups going forward, with Joseph Molangoane particularly threatening but they could not turn the Arrows defence and went into the break scoreless.
Ryan Moon found the breakthrough seven minutes into the second half, after diverting Katsande’s fierce cross into the back of the net, 1-0.
Knox Mutizwa should have equalised two minutes before the hour, following a square pass from Siboniso Conco at close range but was denied by Khune from point-blank range.
Steve Komphela made his first change in the 67th minute, bringing on Hendrick Ekstein in place of Siphelele Ntshangase while Bernard Parker came on for Castro minutes later.
Parker doubled Chiefs' lead 10 minutes before time, after latching onto a long kick from Khune before evading Mbaeva and slotting into an empty net, 2-0,
Molangoane got the third goal for the hosts seven minutes before time, with a left-footed strike at the back post as Chiefs run out deserved winners on the day.
