Tau punished the hosts three minutes later by slotting the ball into the bottom corner after being picked out by Gaston Sirino.
Ruzaigh Gamildien fancied his chances from long range 10 minutes before time but he was off the mark as time was running out for the National First Division side.
Tau had a chance to get his brace with seven minutes remaining after being setup by Thokozani Sekotlong but he skied his shot over the bar before Sirino squandered a similar chance minutes later.
