2015 Nedbank Cup
Last 32
Full Time: University Of Pretoria 2-1 Moroka Swallows
Date: 25 February 2015
Venue: Tuks Stadium
Goals from Thabo Mosadi and Atusaye Nyondo handed the University of Pretoria a 2-1 win over Moroka Swallows in a Nedbank Cup, Last 32 match at Tuks stadium on Wednesday night.
The home side started the better of the two sides and opened the scoring in the eighth minute after a swift passing move was concluded with a low 16-yard strike from Thabo Mosadi that found the bottom left-hand corner, 1-0.
In the 14th minute Atusaye Nyondo came close to doubling Tuks’ lead with a long range shot, but he saw his stinging effort brilliantly saved by keeper Obren Cuckovic.
Swallows came into the game after that and began dictating the flow of play, but their decision making in the final third was not the best which resulted in very few chances on goal.
Nonetheless, the side from Soweto persisted and found the equaliser in the 35th minute when Rudi Isaacs superbly headed home a deep left-wing cross, 1-1.
Neither side could add to the scoreline before the break as they entered half time all-square.
The second half saw both teams start a little cagey and neither ventured too far forward in attack in fear of leaving a gap at the back.
The first real chance of the half came in the 70th minute when a 24-yard free-kick from Geoffrey Massa deflected inches wide of the Swallows goal.
Five minutes later and Tuks did take the lead when Atusaye Nyondo broke through on goal and calmly chipped the onrushing keeper to make it 2-1.
Swallows tried to find their way back into the match, but were unable to do so as Tuks defended stoutly and moved onto the Last 16 of the Nedbank Cup.
