Defending champions, SuperSport United advanced to the quarterfinals of the Nedbank Cup after recording a 2-0 win over KwaDukuza United.
The hosts signaled their intent early on by forcing Ronwen Williams into a fine save from inside the box, while Teboho Mokoena went close from distance in the eighth minute for the visitors.
The Absa Premiership outfit were in control of proceedings with the likes of Morne Nel, Aubrey Modiba and Mandla Masango seeing a lot of the ball.
Stuart Baxter's charges broke the deadlock in the 36th minute, as Thuso Phala's cross found an un-marked Masango, who headed home from close range at the near post.
KwaDukuza held on their own for most of the half, but only threatened Williams' goal on one occasion in the opening 45 minutes.
Baxter opted for a change at the start of the second stanza, as Kingston Nkhatha made way for Jeremy Brockie.
Brockie went close to doubling SuperSport's lead in the 59th minute, but goalkeeper Nimrode Tsengwa produced a fine save to deny the New Zealand striker.
KwaDukuza did carve out a couple chances of their own, bu they failed to take advantage.
SuperSport continued to push for a second goal in the closing stages and were rewarded in the 85th minute with Modiba smashing the ball home from close range.
However, the clash ended on a sour note for SuperSport as Thabo Mnyamane was shown a straight red card.
