Nedbank Cup Last 16

Result: Baroka FC 0-1 Platinum Stars

Date: 04 April 2017

Venue: Old Peter Mokaba Stadium

Ndumiso Mabena struck in the dying stages of extra-time to hand Platinum Stars a 1-0 win over Baroka in their Nedbank Cup Last 16 tie.

The host enjoyed an encouraging start to the encounter, while the Dikwena backline looked shaky in the opening 10 minutes.

Baroka nearly broke the deadlock after 15 minutes, but Mbongeni Mzimela was well-positioned to deal with Mzwanele Mahashe's effort from close range.

The home side opted for a tactical change after 30 minutes as Victor Letsoalo made way for Mpho Mpho Kgaswane.

Dikwena started seeing more of the in the final 15 minutes of the first half, but they were let down by their decision-making in the final third.

Nonetheless, the score remained goalless at the halftime break.

Bongi Ntuli nearly handed Stars the lead 10 minutes into the second half, but the striker blazed over the crossbar from six-yards out.

Baroka should have been ahead after 65 minutes when the ball fell to Kunene in the box, but the midfielder somehow blazed over with only Mzimela to  beat.

Cavin Johnson opted for a change in the 74th minute as Ndumiso Mabena replaced Tintswalo Tshabalala as the visitors pushed for a winning goal.

Both sides pushed for a winning goal in the closing stages, with Mabena going closest by hitting the upright after 84 minutes.

However, neither side could break the deadlock after regulation, which was forced the clash into extra-time.

Chances were few and far between in extra-time, although Stars were reduced to 10 men in the 115th minute when Sphamandla Mlilo was sent off for picking up his second yellow card.

However, Dikwena snatched victory in the final minute of second-half extra time when Mabena rifled home from 20-yards out.

Here's how they lined up:
