Cuthbert Malajila will be aiming to score more goals against Thanda Royal Zulu, if he is selected to play in Pitso Mosimane’s team this weekend.
The Zimbabwean, who has been on form with seven Absa Premiership goals for Sundowns so far this season, says his team will have to be prepared for a competitive game against their NFD opponents in the last 32 of the Nedbank Cup.
“It has now become a norm that clubs from lower divisions play their socks off whenever pitted against PSL sides in the Nedbank Cup and we are expecting no less from Thanda Royal Zulu. The key is to treat the match with the importance it deserves.
“There is more man-marking and hard running in the NFD, which means we have to be on high alert the entire match. We were reminded of this in the friendly matches we played against NFD sides during the mid-season break, and I believe that this will help us a lot when it comes to dealing with the match tempo.
“The fact that I have provided more assists than goals for the team shows exactly the mentality of the team here at Chloorkop. We play as a team and anyone can score like everyone has seen in our past matches. As far as my own performance is concerned, I’m very glad to be doing well and I hope to continue like this even in the Nedbank Cup,” Malajila told sundownsfc.co.za.
The game is scheduled to take place at Loftus Stadium from 17h30 on Saturday afternoon.
