Memela Ready For Pirates And Ajax Last 32 Clash

An Orlando Pirates attacking midfielder has told the Siya crew that despite losing 3-0 to Ajax Cape Town in a league match, the last 32 Nedbank Cup clash will be a different game altogether.

There was much controversy ahead of the midweek clash last week, as the Buccaneers took to the field under protest over the fielding of their former striker, Tendai Ndoro. Ndoro has played for three clubs this season which is against the FIFA Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players.

“We’ve put that match behind us. What’s done is done and we can’t go back and reverse that situation. The fact remains that we are still title contenders but most importantly this will be a cup tie so history won’t matter,” said Luvuyo Memela.

“Cup games require (having) a different mentality. We will go into the match to win the game at all cost. This time they are coming to us and we will make them feel they are playing on our home turf. Pirates have a long history in cup competitions and we know the mentality of recovering from a defeat and getting back to winning ways,” added the winger.

The 30-year-old attacker will hope to get back to his goalscoring ways and help his team advance to the last 16 stages of the competition.

Pirates take on the Urban Warriors in the Nedbank Cup this coming Saturday at 20h15.
