Chiefs had several key figures missing for the win over Platinum Stars at the weekend, with Steve Komphela having to play Tsepo Masilela at centre back to make up for the absence of Erick Mathoho, Teenage Hadebe and Ramahlwe Mphahlele.
Now, with their vital clash with Free State Stars on the horizon, the club has given an injury update as they confirmed the return of both Gustavo Paez and Emmanuel Letlotlo to full training following their respective injuries.
Regarding the injured trio from the weekend, Chiefs’ physiotherapist, David Milner, told the club’s official website that Mphahlele ‘will undergo a final fitness test this week’, while Mathoho is being monitored. Milner explained that Chiefs ‘will have an update before the trip to Durban’.
With Hadebe, the physio said, “Hadebe is under assessment from an ankle injury sustained against Chippa United. He is doing well and we hope he will recover in time for the Nedbank Cup semi-final this weekend.”
Meanwhile, on the topic of the return of their two strikers, he added, “Páez has joined the team training after suffering a calf muscle strain two weeks ago… Letlotlo is involved in full training and is currently loading to get match fit.”
Chiefs take on Stars in a must-win encounter this weekend, and Komphela will be eager to have as many of his stars available as possible.
