Revealed: Where Chiefs Will Play Their Nedbank Cup QF

Kaizer Chiefs Have Taken Their Nedbank Cup QF To Port Elizabeth

By Soccer Laduma - Mar 23, 2018 07:00 AM

It has been confirmed that Kaizer Chiefs won't be playing their Nedbank Cup quarter-final in Soweto later this month.

The Amakhosi still have a mathematical shot at winning the Absa Premiership, however, given the seven-point gap between themselves and the log leaders, the Nedbank is probably their best chance of breaking their trophy drought.

Chiefs haven’t won any silverware since Steve Komphela took over at the club, and with his contract expiring shortly, the club will be eager for him to persuade them that he is deserving of a new deal.

With that in mind, the Amakhosi have decided to take their quarter-final to Port Elizabeth, no doubt hoping for a bumper crowd at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium to cheer them on as they go up against Baroka FC.

The game is set to take place on March 31st at 20h15, with both teams aiming for a spot in the last four of the competition.

It was at this stage last year that Chiefs were knocked out of the Nedbank Cup – by SuperSport United via a penalty shootout – and they will be keen to progress further in this year’s edition.

Chiefs have a week left to prepare for the game, and recently welcomed the likes of George Maluleka, Tsepo Masilela and Emmanuel Letlotlo back to training after their respective injuries.

The Glamour Boys haven’t won the Nedbank since Stuart Baxter’s debut season in 2012/13.

Amakhosi will now take on Bakgaga Ba Mphahlele in the Nedbank Cup quarter-final clash at the Nelson Mandela Stadium on Saturday. “Being the last tournament of the season and the fact that we are lagging behind in the league, this is the one for us,” Komphela said on City Press. Did you heart that? He must not leave the stadium on Saturday should we loose the game. Patience is foreign in a situation like this one

The Nedbank is our last opportunity to show Khompela the other side of us. This is the time his Buddhism will not work as he had suggested to the other coaches who have left their teams prematurely. Love and peace does not mean we cannot hurled insults. It would suit him if he does not even feature in that match. It would be better if we loose on our own account. His mere presence would be an insult to the Chiefs' supporters. Bhudaza took the music lovers by storm with his song "O mong moleko ke ona, ntho ke ena e mpoma le leleme". Ka nnete, we don't know what we have done to deserve this kind of disrespect.

Mathematically, physically, biologically or spiritually chiefs stand no chance in the league. They must also forget about the nedbank cup. Congrats to champions sundowns for winning the league. Don't worry zebras you also have a double to celebrate (Mathematics & English)

Good move. It makes sense. The other team will have to travel long hours and the crowd will be better than at FNB.
