Hunt Won’t Drop Pule Over Chiefs Move

Gavin Hunt says that even though Bidvest Wits know that Vincent Pule is on his way to Kaizer Chiefs, he won’t be leaving him out of the team unless he’s forced to.
The 25-year-old attacker has confirmed his pre-contract with the Glamour Boys in the media after the Siya crew reported their interest back in December, although Hunt has continued to play him.
Pule was left on the bench against the Amakhosi as the two teams drew 1-1 over the weekend, but started the previous four matches and is expected to play some role in this evening’s Nedbank Cup clash with Cape Town City.
Hunt, who has agreed to some pre-contracts of his own with the likes of Robyn Johannes, says that he will only look at leaving out the player if his attitude drops.
He told the Siya crew, “Over the years I’m the only one that does that, I’ll play players even if I know they’re leaving. If I see their training or game slip then it’s different, but otherwise, they have a contract and they’ve got to keep to it. I’ve won leagues playing players that I know are leaving at the end of the season.
“The boy has been fine, he’s playing his heart out. We know the situation (about his Chiefs' pre-contract), and that’s ok. He’s got a good attitude, he’s a good boy. If we’re going to start leaving players out then we might as well just give them one-and-a-half-year contracts rather than two. Just scrap the last six months.”
Pule will join Chiefs at the start of the 2018/19 season. He has three goals and three assists in 18 games this campaign.
