Despite their recent win over Orlando Pirates, Free State Stars are planning ‘revenge’ as they prepare for this weekend’s game against the Buccaneers.
Ea Lla Koto beat Bucs 3-2 in their most recent Absa Premiership match played last weekend. Stars captain Paulus Masehe, who was one of the goal scorers in last Saturday’s win for the Bethlehem outfit over the Soweto giants, says the upcoming Nedbank Cup game will be for them to get their revenge.
Stars lost to Pirates in the semi-finals of the same competition when the two teams played last year.
“It’s not going to be easy match having played them the past weekend, I am sure they have gone back to the drawing board to rectify their mistakes.
“To be honest as much as we are focusing on the league, we also want to at least go as far as we can in the Nedbank cup.
“If one goes back to last season they knocked us out of the semi-final in the very same cup. The game on Saturday will be a sort of some ‘revenge’ in a way.
“The games are coming in thick and fast and we need to focus and one hopes that the guys will take the past weekend league’s performance into the cup match, it’s been a while since we last tasted the cup victory,” Masehe told Stars’ official website.
The Last 16 game for Stars and Pirates will take place at the James Motlatsi Stadium on Saturday.
Serame Letsoaka and his technical team will be without Allen Nono, Thokozani Sekotlong and Nyiko Tshabangu, as confirmed by the club.
