Eymael Stars’ Expectations Of The Cup Final
Free State Stars’ First Cup Final In Almost 20 Years
Free State Stars head coach, Luc Eymael, discusses what his team can expect in the Nedbank Cup final.
Ea Lla Koto beat Kaizer Chiefs 2-0 in the semi-finals to reach the final of this year's competition. The Bethlehem-based outfit will face Maritzburg United in the final, following the KwaZulu-Natal team’s impressive win against Mamelodi Sundowns in the other semi-final.
Eymael says he is expecting a tough match against Fadlu Davids’ team, who have impressed with their style of football this season.
“Maritzburg is a very good team. They play very nice football. They play 3-4-3 or 4-3-3 – it depends. They are very good technically and are very well organised. They have a good structure and a good coach, who has been doing a very good job. It will be a very difficult game,” said the Belgian coach.
The final will be played at the Cape Town Stadium on May 19, as confirmed by the PSL. Stars were last in a cup final during their 2-0 loss to Sundowns in the Rothman’s Cup in 1999.
Prior to playing the final, Stars will travel to the Orlando Stadium for their last league game of the season against Orlando Pirates on May 12.
