City Assistant Coach To Give Team An Edge Over Pirates?
Cape Town City's New Assistant Coach Could Help The Team Get The Needed Edge Over Orlando Pirates
Former Orlando Pirates MultiChoice Diski Challenge coach, Rayaan Jacobs, could give Cape Town City the needed edge over the Bucs next week.
City recently roped in the services of Jacobs for their technical team, after having served Pirates as both MDC coach and statistics analyst during his time with the Soweto giants.
“… he (Jacobs) has been around eight years and obviously I have worked with him when I was at Orlando Pirates and I played and he was an analyst there and obviously, I always sat down with him, gone over my games, where I can improve and he was brilliant at that and I thought it was quite refreshing and obviously when I heard of the opportunity that his family does not want to be in Johannesburg anymore, he became available…” McCarthy told the media last week Friday.
“I said with Ian Taylor leaving, it was a perfect opportunity for me to go and get somebody like that, somebody that I have worked with and I know what he can bring to the team.
“Basel is my right-hand man and (now) I have got Rayaan that will be on the technical, football side of things. He is someone with the same type of philosophy and ambition, his thinking is along the same lines (as mine), he brings freshness to the team. I am happy to have him here,” McCarthy added.
City will host Pirates at the Cape Town Stadium in the round of 16 of the Nedbank Cup competition on March 14, with Jacobs expected to utilise his knowledge of the Bucs during City’s planning for the high-flying Soweto giants.
