Wayne Sandilands produced a Man of the Match performance for Orlando Pirates’ MultiChoice Diski Challenge team, as the experienced goalkeeper works a return to the first team.
The 35-year-old shot-stopper was chosen as the best player on the field as Bucs defeated Kaizer Chiefs during the MDC Soweto Derby at the Vosloorus Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
With Bucs’ first team preparing for their Telkom Knockout semi-final match against Chiefs, which has been scheduled for the Moses Mabhida Stadium for this coming Saturday, Sandilands will hope to have done enough to impress coach Milutin Sredojevic and his technical team for selection to the matchday squad for the eagerly-awaited clash.
Since his appearance in the first match of the season against Highlands Park, Sandilands has not been given another chance in Bucs’ line-ups so far in the campaign.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns player has been in and out of the matchday squads, deputising for the goalkeeper who has been selected to play.
