MTN8 Predictor: Semi-Final First Legs
It’s MTN8 Wafa Wafa time! Bidvest Wits, Cape Town City, Maritzburg United and SuperSport United are the four teams left in the 2017 edition of the cup competition, challenging for the first piece of silverware on offer in the 2017/18 PSL campaign.
The first leg of the semi-finals will be played this weekend, with both clashes promising to be action packed encounters.
SuperSport United v Maritzburg United (26 August 2017 - Lucas Moripe Stadium)
Eric Tinkler will be targeting a home win as SuperSport United welcome Maritzburg United at the Lucas Moripe Stadium Stadium. Matsatsantsa a Pitori eliminated Kaizer Chiefs in the opening round of the MTN8 and will aim to take their winning momentum into the first leg semi-final clash. SuperSport, however, will not have it all their own way. Fadlu Davids is proving to be a master tactician and with the head coach in control of the bench, Tinkler’s side will have to be tactically disciplined. Maritzburg already knocked Mamelodi Sundowns out of the competition and will now take aim at another Tshwane-based side.
Cape Town City v Bidvest Wits (27 August 2017 - Cape Town City)
Benni McCarthy will be aiming to keep his 100% record in tact when Cape Town City host Bidvest Wits at Cape Town Stadium on Sunday. McCarthy has won all three of his games played to date as City’s head coach, two in the league, and the opening round of the MTN8 when the Citizens overcame Polokwane City at the first hurdle. Teko Modise, Lebogang Manyama and Ayanda Patosi will be City’s main threats as Gavin Hunt’s side look to keep them at bay.
