Cape Town City Winger On MTN8 Second Leg: The Team Spirit Is Very High
Cape Town City winger, Lyle Lakay, says that the club is up to the ‘tough’ task of eliminating Bidvest Wits and securing their place in the final of the 2017 MTN8 competition.
Head Coach Benni McCarthy is well on his way to guiding his side to his first cup final in his inaugural season at the helm of the Mother City-based club.
City secured their place in the semi-finals of the competition after claiming a 1-0 win over Polokwane City at the Cape Town Stadium last month.
The first-leg of the semi-finals was held at City’s home ground and the 2016 Telkom Knockout champions went on to secure a 1-0 lead over Bidvest Wits.
Now, the two sides will lock horns at the Bidvest Stadium on Sunday, September 10, in the second leg semi-final showdown, where City will look to capitalize on their lead and book their place in the final of the competition.
Speaking in this week’s edition of Soccer Laduma, City winger, Lakay admitted that it will be tough to get the result against the Clever Boys, however, City are up to the task.
“Everyone can see that the team spirit in our camp is very high. We play as a team and work very hard for each other. We got the result we were looking for in the first leg, although I feel we should have scored more than just one goal,” Lakay said in this week’s MTN8 feature in Soccer Laduma.
“For us, the main thing is to keep a clean sheet so that we can secure our place in the final. Getting another goal would be good for us, but as long as we keep a clean sheet, that will be good for us. It is going to be tough, but we are up to the task,” he added.
