MTN8 2018

Starting XI: Chiefs v FS Stars

MTN8 Quarter-Final

Teams: Kaizer Chiefs v Free State Stars

Date: 11 August 2018

Venue: FNB Stadium

Kaizer Chiefs begin their quest to deliver their first trophy in three seasons when they host Free State Stars in the MTN8 quarter-final on Saturday evening.

The match will is scheduled to get underway at 18h00.

New coach Giovanni Solinas has not had the best start as the successor to Steve Komphela after conceding four goals in his first two matches in charge.

The Glamour Boys drew 1-1 with rivals Mamelodi Sundowns in their opening Absa Premiership match and then lost 3-1 to Bidvest Wits on Tuesday.

Amakhosi are still missing midfielder George Maluleka who is nursing an injury while new signing Andriamirado Andrianarimanana will also not be available as he is still awaiting his work permit.

Meanwhile, Ea Lla Koto also had an indifferent start to their season after losing their first match 3-0 to Bidvest Wits, but they turned things around in their second game to sink Maritzburg United 2-1 on Wednesday.

Eymael was in charge when the Bethlehem based side knocked Amakhosi 2-0 in last season’s Nedbank Cup semi-final in April in Durban where former Chiefs coach Komphela resigned shortly after the game.

However, it remains to be seen how Stars will cope without two of their influential players in Mohammed Anas and Siphelele Mthembu who have both left the club in this transfer window.
