Amakhosi Debutant: We’re Stronger Than Stars…

Kabelo Mahlasela had to wait a long time for his official Kaizer Chiefs debut, but now he has finally been given the opportunity he’s taking aim at an MTN8 semifinal spot.
The 27-year-old attacker was brought on for the final 15 minutes of the Amakhosi’s 3-1 loss at the hands of Bidvest Wits earlier this week and was unable to help turn things around as they continued their wait for a first win of the season.
Mahlasela is no stranger to waiting though, with his dream Chiefs move being soured almost immediately as he picked up a knee injury that required surgery and ruled him out for the second half of the 2017/18 season.
Now fully fit again, the former Bloemfontein Celtic man has opened up on playing for Chiefs for the first time, telling their official website, “It felt good to wear the Gold and Black jersey for the first time in an official match. It was an honour and a privilege. We could have won, we created more chances than them, but it wasn’t to be.”
Meanwhile, on this weekend’s MTN8 clash with Free State Stars, he added, “It’s a cup game, so we have to win or we are out. There are no second chances, but we are the stronger side and we will fight as a team to make it to the next round.”
