Solinas Names ‘Best Player In SA’, Wants To Convert Ntshangase
Giovanni Solinas thinks that he has got the ‘best player in South Africa’ at Kaizer Chiefs, while he also has plans for their number 10 for the new season.
The Italian got his first win as head coach of the Glamour Boys over the weekend as they thumped his former team, Free State Stars, 3-0 in their MTN8 quarter-final, securing a spot in the last four where they will face SuperSport United.
Khama Billiat was heavily involved in the victory at FNB Stadium, and the 50-year-old believes that the Zimbabwean attacker – who already has a goal and assist for his new club – is the very best in the Absa Premiership following his move from Mamelodi Sundowns prior to the start of the 2018/19 campaign.
Speaking to Chiefs’ official website after picking up his first win, Solinas said, “I don’t want to disrespect other players in the PSL, but, for me, Billiat is the best player in South Africa. He can easily play in Europe and it’s a privilege to have a player like Billiat in my squad.”
Meanwhile, the Amakhosi coach also revealed his plans for midfield man, Siphelele Ntshangase, saying that he’s hoping to convert ‘Stash’ into playing a different role for the club going forward.
He said, “Ntshangase is a number ten, but I want to convert him to a midfielder, playing a bit deeper and next to Willard Katsande, so that these two will hold the midfield. Ntshangase had a good game.”
Chiefs’ next test comes against Baroka this evening as they look to follow up their MTN8 win with their first three points in the league.
