Benni McCarthy has shared his thoughts leading up to the highly anticipated MTN8 final this weekend, with his Cape Town City side looking to be second time lucky.
The Citizens, who are no stranger to cup finals, will once again face SuperSport United at the familiar Moses Mabhida Stadium in the final of the 2018 MTN8 competition, as they look to make it over the finish line and lift their second trophy since their inaugural season.

McCarthy who led his side to the final last year, where they ended off as runners-up of the competition, admitted that he does not want the Citizens to become a team who are known for reaching finals without lifting the silverware after full-time.
“I want to win it for the players, you know they deserve, they put in all the hard work, they put in the effort and they deserve to be in two finals, (it was unfortunate) for the last time, but I think this time, you don’t want to become that team that gets to finals and then they can't get over the line, so we want to put all our effort and energy in to this one,” McCarthy told the media.
“I hope my boys will be as hungry as ever. The atmosphere has been really good, better than I expected. So hopefully we can get to that road where we have all our top players, we want to have them all fit,” he added.
