Sundowns Claim MTN8 Final Berth

Result: Mamelodi Sundowns 1-0 Chippa United
Date: 21 September 2016
Venue: Lucas Moripe Stadium
Mamelodi Sundowns booked their place in the MTN8 final after beating Chippa United 1-0 in the semifinal second leg on Wednesday.
The Brazilians were on the attack from the get-go as Keagan Dolly showed off some individual skill to beat a defender before forcing a great save from Daniel Akpeyi.
Yannick Zakri made his presence felt early as he produced a few excellent passes to bring the likes of Khama Billiat into the fray. However, Billiat fired wide in the 16th minute.
Denis Onyango was called into action twice as Chippa managed to put together decent advances towards the Sundowns third. He was up to the task, pulling off superb saves.
Chippa threatened again on the stroke of half-time, but Mbulelo Wambi's effort went wide after Andile Mbenyane's shot was saved.
Shortly after the half-time interval, the hosts piled the pressure on Chippa and a goalmouth scramble almost resulted in the opener but Sibusiso Vilakazi's shot was blocked.
Anthony Laffor was introduced in the 56th minute, coming on for Zakri in order to help the hosts find a way through the Chippa defence, and the change paid off swiftly.
The Brazilians finally broke the deadlock in the 75th minute. A lightning quick attack from within their own half gave super-sub Anthony Laffor the chance to net the decisive goal after an assist from Sibusiso Vilakazi.
United threw men forward to get themselves back on level terms, but Sundowns held on to their narrow lead to clinch a spot in the MTN8 final.
Here's how they lined up:
Sundowns: 36 Onyango, 5 Mbekile, 4 Langerman, 16 Nascimento, 6 Arendse, 8 Kekana, 13 Mabunda, 7 Dolly, 11 Vilakazi, 24 Zakri, 33 Billiat.
