Chippa United CEO Peter Koutroulis has predicted that his side could go all the way to the final of the MTN8, despite having to first come up against highflying Mamelodi Sundowns in the semi-finals.

The Chilli Boys have had an impressive start to the 2016/17 season. Following their 2-1 win over Free State Stars in the league, Dan Malesela’s side knocked Platinum Stars out of the MTN8, with a 2-0 victory in front of their supporters at Royal Bafokeng Stadium on the weekend.
Koutroulis says the Port Elizabeth outfit is ready to face Sundowns in the two-legged semi-final, with a possibility to advance to the final of the prestigious competition.
“It’s good for everybody because of the hard work have put in place. It’s good, especially for Dan Malesela. He works very hard to bring all the youngsters together. If you check, 70% of our team are new players. Sundowns is a big club and the team is playing in the Champions League. They won the league last season. At the end of the day, our boys are also ready for the game. They know what is expected. One of the players actually told me today that, ‘Mr. Peter, we are human beings and we play one against one out there. We are not afraid to play against (Khama) Billiat or any other player.’ We are ready for Sundowns. I believe that there will be many supporters coming to this game (Chippa’s home game in the first leg),” said Koutroulis.
The former Sundowns official says he has spoken to Bidvest Wits coach Gavin Hunt and told him his predictions for the final of the competition.
“Let me tell you my prediction and I don’t know if I’m wrong or right. I spoke to my friend Gavin Hunt the other day and I told him that I predict a Wits against Chippa final. He laughed,” explained Koutroulis.
