Over the past weekend, the DStv Premiership and CAF inter-club competitions took centre stage with Stellenbosch FC upsetting Kaizer Chiefs with a 1-0 win at Danie Craven stadium, to mark Arthur Zwane and Dillon Sheppard’s caretaker coach tenure on a losing note while Mamelodi Sundowns suffered a shocking 3-2 aggregate elimination from the CAF Champions League that they looked to be in control of all along, against Petro de Luanda at FNB Stadium on Saturday night.
Orlando Pirates needed a penalty shoot-out, winning 4-3, to secure their CAF Confederation Cup semi-final spot, coming back from a 1-0 first leg loss away to Tanzanian giants, Simba FC. Bucs goalkeeper, Richard Ofori, proved to be the hero and the difference between the two teams when he saved a penalty and went on to convert the winning spot-kick for the Soweto giants who had their supporters rallying behind them for the duration of the game.
Swallows FC recorded an important 3-2 win against Baroka FC, putting them on 23 points from 26 games so far this season. Swallows are now 14th on the log and will be looking to move away from the relegation zone in their upcoming fixtures, with only four games to go before the curtain is pulled on this campaign. TS Galaxy, 15th on the log, played to a 1-all draw against Maritzburg United at Mbombela Stadium.
