How Pitso Could Make It Two Trebles In One Year

Al Ahly head coach Pitso Mosimane could make history in becoming the first coach to win two trebles with different teams, within a matter of months.

Last season Mosimane lead Mamelodi Sundowns to an impressive domestic treble after the men from Tshwane scooped up the Absa Premiership, Nedbank Cup and Telkom Knockout in what was to be Mosimane’s final season with the club.

Now, the 56-year-old has guided his new club over the line in the Egyptian Premier League, although it was a mere formality when he arrived. Mosimane however, played a vital role in leading the Red Devils to the CAF Champions League final, where he will face a familiar foe in Zamalek on November 27.

The men from Cairo will also meet Abu Qir Fertilization Football team in the Egyptian Cup quarterfinals.

Should Mosimane and his team manage to clinch both trophies, it would mean six trophies, with two different teams, in less than a year for the former Bafana coach!

Preparations for the crucial fixtures got underway as Mosimane’s Al Ahly squad was back in training on Saturday, following a six-day layoff after their league title victory.

In addition, just as he did in his time in South Africa with the likes of Promise Mkhuma and Nicholus Lukhubeni last season, Mosimane has shown that he is not afraid to bring in fresh blood.

In his most recent training session, no less than five Al Ahly prospects joined first team under the watchful eye of Mosimane.

Ahmed Ashraf, Mohamed Ashraf, Omar Rizq, Ibrahim El Sayed, and Ahmed El Sayed Ghareb all got to rub shoulders with the big boys after being brought on board by Mosimane from the club’s academy.
