Orlando Pirates are unbeaten in the league since their 3-2 victory over Polokwane City on November 26 and given their form, have since climbed higher on the African rankings.
While Mamelodi Sundowns remain the top South African club according to footballdatabase.com, the likes of Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and Bidvest Wits are slowly catching up.
In the latest update on the ranking system, Sundowns remain at eighth position, having recently dropped points in the league to Pirates, before their Tshwane derby win at the weekend.
Kaizer Chiefs, who are the Absa Premiership log leaders, also remain in 17th position, although their Soweto rivals are getting closer.
Pirates’ three-match winning streak sees them ranked at 19th place in Africa, this compared to being in the 22nd position at the start of January.
Bidvest Wits on the other hand, has since moved from 19th place to the 21st position, with the next highest-ranked South African club, SuperSport United following far behind at 54th.
