Starting XI: Celtic v SuperSport

Nedbank Cup

Teams: Bloemfontein Celtic v SuperSport United

Date: 11 February 2018

Venue: Dr Molemela Stadium

Off-form Bloemfontein Celtic will be looking for a cup inspiration to turn around their fortunes, with the visit of SuperSport United, in the Nedbank Cup first round on Sunday.

The match is scheduled to get underway at 15h30.

After winning their opening game of the year, Siwelele have failed to go on and win any since, losing and drawing a spate of matches that’s seen drop out of the top eight.

Having already endured a good cup run after ending the Telkom Knockout as runners-up to Bidvest Wits, the ‘FA Cup of South Africa’ may provide them with the opportunity to return to form.

Veselin Jelusic has plenty of steel to call upon to guide them into the last 16, but it remains to be seen what type of game his entrusted figures come up with on the day.

Nevertheless, the onus will firmly lie on Victor Letsoalo, Ndumiso Mabena, Deon Hotto and Tshepo Rikhotso to ensure their joyful spectators leave the stadium smiling again.

In any competition, it’s never easy facing the defending champions and having won it the last two years, starting their defence on a positive footing is vital for Matsatsantsa.

In hindsight, they have also struggled to put up a good run of form in the league, with results going up and down just as their counterparts.

It must be stated that the 4-2 thrashing their dished a week ago to their opponents in the league, will put them in a good psychological ground to upset once again.

Although given that both teams are eager to maintain a top eight spot, it will be interesting to see whether they rest a few of their regulars and put the focus on the fringe contingent to the business.

Here's how they line up:

Celtic: 30. Tingyemb, 2. Molekwane, 22. Rihkotso, 25. Gordinho, 3. Pfumbidazi, 8. Phalane, 35. Baloyi, 50. Masuku, 33. Motshegwa, 19. Nemukondeni, 10. Mabena.
Subs: 34. Dambe, 4. Dlamini, 6. Maruping, 13. Letsaolo, 17. Mabaso, 18. Mashikinya, 26. Lubisi.
SuperSport: 31. Mbanjwa, 18. Nhlapo, 27. Egwuekwe, 25. Farmer, 14. Bhasera, 28. Mokoena, Mokeke, 38. Webber, 24. Mbule, 9. Smith, 10. Nkhatha.
Subs: 1. Pieterse, 20. Kekana, 2. Boateng, 17. Dube, 26. Stoffels, 35. Dlala, 36. Zondi.
