Nedbank Cup

Teams: Bidvest Wits v Cape Town City

Date: 07 February 2018

Venue: Bidvest Stadium

Bidvest Wits will be looking to break the hoodoo against Cape Town City when the two sides clash in a Nedbank Cup last 32 tie at the Bidvest Stadium.

The match is scheduled to get underway at 19h30.

The Clever Boys will be eager to get the monkey of losing to the Citizens behind their backs after losing three contests against Benni McCarthy’s charges this season, twice in the MTN 8 competition and once in the league.

The Braamfontein-based side may be in a better frame of mind after easing their relegation concerns by conjuring up an unbeaten run in the new year in the Absa Premiership.

Gavin Hunt’s troops will be motivated to salvage their season by going on another cup run after winning the Telkom Knockout trophy in December.

McCarthy’s men will have to get over their 1-0 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns in the league last Friday quickly and focus on putting on  a run in the Nedbank Cup.

McCarthy will be back on the touchlines after serving his two-game suspension, although defender Robyn Johannes is suspended for this match after receiving a red card against the Brazilians last Friday.
