Nedbank Cup Quarter-Final
Teams: Bloemfontein Celtic v Golden Arrows
Date: 30 March 2019
Venue: Dr Molemela Stadium
A spot in the Nedbank Cup semi-finals is up for grabs when Golden Arrows lock horns with Bloemfontein Celtic at the Dr Molemela Stadium.
Siwelele come into the epic cup meeting on a back of a bad patch in the league, suffering a 4-2 defeat to Bidvest Wits just before the FIFA international break two weeks ago. The loss to Wits extended their winless run to four matches.
Now they will have a chance to redeem themselves in the Nedbank Cup. They got to this stage of the tournament by beating lower league opposition teams in Super Eagles who are campaigning in the ABC Motsepe League and dispatched National First Division outfit Richards Bay 1-0 in the round of 16.
Meanwhile, Abafana Bes’thende will depend on the intel Steve Komphela has on his former team to plot their downfall.
The Durban side also played against lower league sides to reach this stage of the tournament after brushing aside third-tier outfit Tjakastad Junior Shepard 3-0 in the first round and edged NFD side Witbank Spurs 2-1 in the previous round.
The sides have met twice in the league already this season, as Celtic beat Arrows 2-0 in the first round clash in Durban, while the return fixture ended in a 1-1 draw.
