Teams: Orlando Pirates v Cape Town City
Date: 17 October 2020
Venue: Orlando Stadium
Orlando Pirates will be aiming to get past the MTN8 quarter-finals for the first time in six years when they host Cape Town City on Saturday evening at Orlando Stadium.
The Buccaneers will be desperate to justify the major signings they made by ending a six-year trophy drought, which coincides with the number of consecutive years they have been booted out of this tournament in the first round.
Last season, the Soweto giants were knocked out by eventual finalists Highlands Park 1-0 after a late winner by their new signing Wayde Jooste.
New Pirates signings, Thulani Hlatshwayo, Deon Hotto, Terrence Dzvukamanja and Wayde Jooste have named in the starting line-up while Collins Makgaka makes the bench.
After reaching the final of the MTN8 for two consecutive seasons, the Citizens were booted out by Polokwane City in the first round last term.
The Mother City outfit won their first MTN8 title in 2018 in a revenge final after edging SuperSport United on penalties.
The Cape Town side will be without their talisman Kermit Erasmus, who was transferred to Mamelodi Sundowns but have managed to secure the services of Aubrey Ngoma from Sundowns, left-back Terrence Mashego from TS Galaxy, Sanele Gaxa from AmaZulu and goalkeeper Bombay Reid from Steenberg United.
Here's how they start:
Pirates: Sandilands, Jooste, Hlatshwayo, Nyauza, Ndlovu, Makaringe, Motshwari, Hotto, Pule, Mhango, Dzvukamanja.
Subs: Mpontshane, Jele, Monyane, Tlolane, Mntambo, Makgaka, Lorch, Dlamini, Lepasa
