Teams: Kaizer Chiefs v SuperSport United

Date: 12 August 2017

Venue: Moses Mabhida Stadium

Kaizer Chiefs and SuperSport United will lock horns in an MTN8 encounter this evening.

The match is scheduled to get underway at 20h15.

Chiefs have been busy in pre-season, having won the Maize Cup by seeing off Platinum Stars and Township Rollers, while they also defeated Orlando Pirates in a Soweto Derby.

The AmaKhosi have brought in the likes of Teenage Hadebe, Bhongolwethu Jayiya and Dumisani Zuma in the off-season.

SuperSport, on the other hand, are under new management following the arrival of Eric Tinkler from Cape Town City.

Chiefs were eliminated by Cape Town City in the first round of the MTN8 last season, while SuperSport were defeated by Mamelodi Sundowns in the semi-finals.

Here's how they line up:

Chiefs: Khune, Mphahlele, Gordinho, Mathoho, Masilela, Maluleka, Katsande, Ekstein, Tshabalala, Parker, Paez.

SuperSport: Williams, Kekana, Gould, Daniels, Modiba, Alexander, Furman, Letsholonyane, Brockie, Wome, Grobler.

Great game but, my concern is the pace they playing with, Paez i think he more like second come striker and they need a box Striker and no Offense but i think "Ndumiso Mabena" would have been a good signing for them, They need someone whom they can trust in goals, Paez is trying buy eish,,,,,, Good game overall for me personally out of the 8 team that played this far in PSL Chiefs was the better team,

Im not good at analyzing the game but allow me to say this, Ekstein was in for Molangoane and that meant Masilela was going to play deep because Ekstein is not a winger he played inside, this allowed Brockie to use more space on the left side which forced Gordinho to stretch out from Centre, and guess where the goal came from?

Can you really expect win with the likes of Maluleka, Parker ? come on. Play Bucanan Moon Paez then you will get results. Parker played his role long ago is time to move on to the other new players. It seems as if we are stacked with old tired outdated players. Life goes on

Kaizer Chiefs officially opened their 2017/2018 account on a bad note losing 1-0 to Supersport United in the MTN 8. Apart from the beautiful brand of football that was dished for the nearly packed stadium, Chiefs ended as the losing side with United going through via a seventh minute counter attacking move which resulted in a goal. As usual, Khompela got the blame for various reasons which do not hold water. He's starting eleven was questioned before the game. A fraction of the Chiefs supporters at the stadium signalled for the substitution even though the coach was already preparing for it to happen. When substitutes were introduced, he was again blamed for introducing them late or replacing the wrong players. One thing that the supporters did not take into consideration was that Chiefs outplyayed United from the beginning of the game right till the end. Chiefs created more chances than United. Infact, United created one real chance which resulted in the goal and a one half chance throughout the game. In the opposite end, the woodwork came to United's rescue on three occasions with the keeper well-beaten. Chances after chances came flying for the Chiefs players but the scoreline remained 1-0 to Supersport. If there's any balming to be done, then he (Khompela) should be blamed for not having luck. Luck was just not on his side.
