Thabo Senong's charges began the campaign with a 2-1 loss to Japan and will want to beat the Italians if they hope to advance to the knockout rounds.
Italy are also searching for their first win of the campaign, after they were beaten 1-0 by Uruguay on match day one.
Bidvest Wits' Reeve Frosler and SuperSport United's Teboho Mokoena missed the opening game but have since joined up with the squad.
Frosler is handed a start at right-back, while Liam Jordan starts upfront ahead of Keletso Makgalwa.
