Teams: Pedro de Luanda v SuperSport United
Date: 06 March 2018
Venue: Estadio 11 de Novembro
SuperSport United will be starting their journey in the CAF Confederations Cup against Angolan side Pedro de Luanda this afternoon.
The match is scheduled to get underway at 17h00 (SA time).
Kaitano Tembo, who was an assistant, has been installed as caretaker coach until the end of the season after former head coach Eric Tinkler resigned last Friday.
Tembo is not lacking in experience as he presided over the period of transition where former coach Stuart Baxter was transferring to the national team and Tinkler was waiting in the wings in the latter stages of the 2017 edition of the CAF Confederations Cup.
The Tshwane giants and Pedro de Luanda are meeting for the third time in their history as they clashed in the 2013 edition of the competition over two legs. The first leg ended goalless in Angola before Matsatsantsa won the return leg 2-0 in Pretoria thanks to a brace by Sibusiso Zuma.
Luanda are a tough nut to crack at home as they are yet to be beaten on their home turf in the 27 games played so far in the domestic league. They booked their place against Matsatsantsa in the last round of qualification for the group stages by dispatching Malawian side Masters Security 5-0 on aggregate.
The Angolan outfit have appeared seven times in the CAF Champions League in their history, their biggest achievement was reaching the semi-finals in 2001.
Here's how they line up:
SuperSport: Pieterse, Kekana,Gould, Egwuekwe, Boateng, Mokoena, Mbule, Webber,Nhlapo, Modiba, Smith.
Subs: Williams, Le Roux, Bhasera, Stoffels.
