Starting XI: Gor Mahia v SuperSport

CAF Confederation Cup

Teams: Gor Mahia v SuperSport United

Date: 08 April 2018

Venue: Machakos Stadium

SuperSport United will be looking to salvage their season when they visit Kenyan Champions Gor Mahia in the CAF Confederations Cup play-off first-leg on Sunday afternoon.

The match is scheduled to get underway at 14h00 (SA time).

Gor are having a second bite of the cherry in Africa after narrowly losing out to Tunisian giants Esperance in the CAF Champions League second round.

The Kenyan Champions largely held their own against Esperance, holding the Tunis-based side to a goalless draw at home but lost 1-0 away.

On the other hand, Matsatsantsa reached the final of last season’s edition of the Confederations Cup but are a completely different side this term.

The brilliant continental cup run last season probably came at a cost as the side started suffering from fatigue in the early stages and basically throughout the current domestic campaign as they didn’t have a proper pre-season due to PSL-CAF calendar clash.

The Tshwane-based side may be prioritising improving their league position in the PSL rather than gunning for another continental cup run as they have been dragged into a relegation scrap lying third-from-bottom on the domestic table.

The two sides are meeting for the first time in their history.

Here's how they line up:

Gor Mahia: Oluch, Otieno, Onguso, Shakava, J. Onyango, Wedno, Mieno, Kahata, Odhiambo, Tuyisenge, Kagere.
Subs: Odhonji, S. Onyango, Omondi, Juma, Omondi, Ondiek, Guikan.
SuperSport: Pieterse, Nhlapo, Gould, Egwuekwe ,Boateng, Furman,Webber, Le Roux, Mokeke, Mbule, Phala.
Subs: Mbanjwa, Kekana, Mokoena, Mnyamane.
