CAF Champions League
Teams: Bidvest Wits v PampleMousses SC
Date: 10 February 2018
Venue: Bidvest Stadium
Bidvest Wits will tackle relatively unknown Mauritian champions Pamplemousses, in the CAF Champions League preliminary round first-leg at Bidvest Stadium on Saturday evening.
The match is scheduled to get underway at 18h00.
The Clever Boys are enduring one of their worst seasons in the Absa Premiership and but will now switch focus to continental matters.
Last season they were knocked out by eventual finalists and record eight-time winners Al Ahly, in the preliminary round and will want to do better this season after a kind draw.
The Braamfontein-based side are coming off a 1-0 defeat to Cape Town City, in a Nedbank Cup last 32 round clash in midweek.
Meanwhile, the Mauritian champions Pamplemousses have not qualified for the CAF Champions League in the last ten years.
The last time they featured was in 2007, when they were knocked out by Highlanders of Zimbabwe in the preliminary round.
Pamplemousses won the Mauritian Premier League in the 2016/17 season, to qualify for the current preliminary stages and are a team on the rise having claimed four league titles in their 17 years of existence.
