Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs will renew their rivalry in the Soweto derby this afternoon at the FNB Stadium.

The match is scheduled to get underway at 15h30.

Happy days are now upon the Buccaneers as they enter the Soweto derby having thrashed Chippa United 4-2 last weekend, with Justin Shonga netting a brace on the day.

The expectations will be high as they currently sit second on the log with 36 points from 22 matches, seven points behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, who beat AmaZulu 3-1 on Friday evening.

On the other hand, Steve Komphela is still under immense pressure to deliver his first title at Chiefs and the onus is on his charges to go all out in attack to close the gap on Sundowns.

The arrivals of new signings Leonardo Castro and Siphelele Ntshangase in the January transfer window have boosted their ranks but they are far from convincing as their 0-0 draw with Bloemfontein Celtic last weekend was their 11th stalemate of the season.

The Naturena-based side sit third on log with 35 points from 22 matches, eight points behind the Brazilians.

Both sides have no suspensions to worry about for today's encounter.

No...no...no...not yet over mate, Prof Komphela summed it up when he said there is still 21 points to play for, he is not throwing in the towel. Why are you throwing in the towel while your Coach is still putting in a fight?

@setlaboswana at this stage of the league and with the way Downs have been playing, I doubt anyone can beat them to the title. But it's my opinion. My neighbors should only have Chiefs' win to boast about not the league. Please motivate your troops to not drop the ball.

stil cant find the logic behind the signing of philani zulu by steve khompela cos the guy is only good at dribling and he never put in a quality cross in the whole 90 minutes
