Starting XI: Pirates v Highlands

Absa Premiership Starting XI: Orlando Pirates v Highlands Park 04 August 2018

Absa Premiership

Teams: Orlando Pirates v Highlands Park

Date: 04 August 2018

Venue: Orlando Stadium

Last season's runners-up, Orlando Pirates begin their 2018/19 Absa Premiership campaign against returnees Highlands Park on Saturday night at Orlando Stadium.

The match is scheduled to get underway at 20h15.

The Buccaneers raised expectations of the league title in this new season after finishing second last term, after playing some impressive football under Milutin Sredojevic.

The Soweto giants had a low key pre-season, camping in Nelspruit, Zambia and Cape Town in preparation and in anticipation for a serious title challenge.

The Bucs have not won a league title in six years, with their last title coming in the 2011-2012 campaign.

The Soweto giants announced nine new signings ahead of the season season namely, goalkeeper Brilliant Khuzwayo, Vincent Pule, Kudakwashe Mahachi, Asavela Mbekile, Ben Motshwari, Meshack Maphangule, Linda Mntambo, Abel Mabaso and Paseka Mako.

Meanwhile, the Lions of the North will not want to repeat the mistakes from 2016-17 season as rookies in the PSL after they were relegated in the same campaign.

To their credit now, Highlands have managed to bounce back by winning the National First Division title last season.

The NFD champions have been very busy in the transfer market, having brought in 12 new players for the 2018-2019 season.

Here's how they line up:

Pirates: Sandilands, Jele, Shitolo, Maela, Dube, Mlambo, Nyatama, Lorch, Pule, Mako, Mulenga.

Subs: Mpontshane, Thopola, Motshwari, Makola, Mahlonoko, Mahachi, Shonga.

Highlands: Kapini, Fransman, Motsepe, Mokoena, Ramoraka, Motlafi, Haoseb, Mahlangu, Rae, Nyembe, Mbatha.

Subs: Heugh, Sibande, Ngebo, Williams, Sekola, Versuur, Msimango.

Robert Green did it in a world cup game here in 2010, so that's not a miracle. It's not like suck mishaps are unheard of in soccer circles. So, Mr Editor, why do you sound like you wanna magnify this to look like a horror story siding with our haters? There are better news to report. You surely can do better than this.

Why is BUCS still having many back passes and yet expect to score goals. We need to play positive football and move the ball as fast a possible forward. The faster and precise we move the ball the better.

Micho we don't want to forcefully remove you Because of your Silly Choices , Sandilands doesnt even deserve to be in the Starting line up, while Mpontshane is Fit, Please Man . if you continue doing that you will lose R-E-S-P-E-C-T from us FANS. Please bench Sandilands & LOAN him to NFD Clubs, Jerrrrrrrr.

Micho and his technical team are taking us for fools...how in their sane and cotton picking mind would they pick Wayne Sandilands to start in this game knowing very well that Wayne is a nervous wreck and has curtailed his own talent by being a poor goalkeeper. Did they think we suffer from amnesia . For their report , we remember as if it was yesterday how the self sane Sandilands humilated us against Sundowns last season. We were the laughing stock of town and had hoped that we had seen enough of him but, for some reason that defy logic Micho and Rulani and the entire technical team so it fit to field this incompetent guy. Surely then they were happy with the results.... For Micho to act as if he felt pity for us is neither here or there. He saw it fit to bench Mpontsane and select Sandilands despite his being a liability to them. This is synonymous to deliberately sticking a finger into someone's eye knowing that you will apologise for it later.

Micho must just do his work and stop luring us to believing that he has our interest at heart while he is his brother's keeper.

@toothless khoza : I don't know about your zombies but Pirates use Rand stadium as their training ground so it's up to you to tell whether it is bigger than your farm or.....
