Absa Premiership

Teams: Maritzburg United v Kaizer Chiefs

High flying Maritzburg United welcome Kaizer Chiefs to the Harry Gwala Stadium in a Absa Premiership clash hoping to continue their good run of form.

Fadlu Davids’ team are enjoying a good run in the Absa Premiership and sit pretty at the top with the early season pace setters.

Tonight presents the Kwazulu-Natal team with an opportunity to return to the top of table as they will be aware that victory against Chiefs will confirm just that.

Their visitors Kaizer Chiefs suffered late heartbreak in their last encounter against defending champions Bidvest Wits who equalised in stoppage time to the dismay of Steve Khompela and his charges.

Amakhosi will be aiming for a strong performances against a team in better form than they are, knowing that defeat will increase the gap between them and the teams at the top of the log.

Maritzburg United and Kaizer Chiefs come from the back of exciting draws against Orlando Pirates and Bidvest Wits respectively and will be hoping to get back to winning ways in their potentially fierce encounter.

Those two kids are a breath of fresh air in the middle now Steve can bench Gordinho and play Katsande in that position as Gordinho has become a penalty magnet.

I dnt wish for any player to get injured in order for us 2 c the new ones but Maluleka is obviously not consistent with his play..so some one must step up to benefit the team..exmple look how Moleko is performing! perfect, beta than the ever runing without thinking Mphahlele..amen

Well done boys what we need is consistency because we have a very balanced squad and a good bench we don't need expensive players to succeed promoted players must be given a chance to prove themselves after all that's what chiefs used to do ,promote unknown players who later became great eg jabu, khune,Brian b,DK, teenage Dladla just to mention but few

It's a cliché Journalists are always negative when it comes to CHIEFS or is it because they want to sell papers? When KC play like Maritzburg & fail to score there'll always be outcry that KC doesn't score, it has 3rd grade Players all that staff. Maritzburg were beaten last night with clear 2 goals, it's KC that gets the weep & the critic all over. The very same KC that beat both on form teams away from home. Aren't they supposed to say there's Steve Khompela's young team with CHARACTER, a team that fights like LIONS to get a clear uncompromised win even if none existent penalties are given against them, and doesn't win from denied legal goals. WHO BUYS THE REFEREES NOW? Truth be told KC is the team that brings vibrancy to PSL & SA footaball, every team that plays KC wants to die on the field both big and so called small teams!!!

Excellent display boys! Maritzburg fc is not a small fry, ask Dunusa and OP. Chiefs next game will introduce another youngster from the likes of Bunting & Zuma, Other two youngsters Meyiwa & Malope have made a very good and impressive presentation already, their confidence in playing for a first team is growing.

“Hopefully Khama is back and Anton [Anthony Laffor]. If I don’t get them, then maybe I will bring Thapelo as a winger. I will make a plan for the speed because I know that [Wydad] defence is a little bit slow. So we have to consolidate and put the balls behind [them]. “I think we can manage the game. We have enough Bafana players on the pitch. We’ll probably have different personnel. We’ll probably have Anele because he is a better defender than Thapelo. Thapelo is quicker and he gives us more options to go forward, but sometimes when I need results Anele does well for me, like in Esperance and St George. We’ll see.” Mosimane is not worried at all about his players being intimidated in Rabat. They have, after all, played in the Champions League final against Zamalek in Alexandria, so they should know what to expect on match day. “We have the experience, to be honest. We are not going to be intimidated. It can never be bigger than Alexandria of Zamalek. That’s the ultimate full house. “Imagine saying we are worried about being intimidated. We have been to Setif and you know what happened there. They [the supporters] go inside the pitch.” Mosimane concluded
