Absa Premiership

Teams: Mamelodi Sundowns V Moroka Swallows

Date: 10 February 2014

Venue: Lucas Moripe Stadium

Mamelodi Sundowns and Moroka Swallows will both be looking to kick-start 2015 with a win when they lock horns in an Absa Premiership match at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Tuesday night.

The match is set to get underway at 19h30.

Sundowns will be hoping to close the gap on Kaizer Chiefs at the top of the table with a win. Currently, the Brazilians occupy second place on the log with 31 points from 17 games, 15 points adrift of the Amakhosi but having played a game less.

The side from Tshwane will be hoping to start how they finished in 2014 with a 2-1 win over Ajax Cape Town, which extended their unbeaten league run to 13 games.

Swallows also finished 2014 on a high after a 2-1 win over AmaZulu, which extended their unbeaten run in the league to three matches.

The Birds currently occupy 13th place on the table with 19 points from 17 games, only two points above the relegation zone.

In head-to-head stats, Sundowns and Swallows have met in 59 league matches since 1985. The Brazilians have claimed 30 wins compared to 13 for the Birds, while 16 matches have been drawn. When the teams met earlier this season, the Brazilians claimed a 2-0 away win thanks to goals from Mame Niang and Kudakwashe Mahachi.
