Bakgaga are in danger of being dragged to the relegation zone after they lost 3-1 against local rivals Polokwane City last weekend.

Wedson Nyirenda’s charges won their first game of the calendar year when they beat SuperSport United 2-1 prior to the defeat against Rise and Shine, that ended a five-match winless run.

The Limpopo based side are currently languishing fourth from bottom with 21 points from 22 matches, just a point ahead of Chippa United who currently occupy the relegation play-off spot.

Meanwhile, the Lions of the North are slowly losing ground on the top eight spot after a dip in form in the latter part of the season.

Owen Da Gama’s troops won their first game of the calendar year when they beat Bidvest Wits 2-1 on 9 February, that ended a five-match winless streak but are yet to win again in their last two games.

Their last outing was a 3-2 defeat against Kaizer Chiefs last weekend, which saw them remain ninth on the table with 26 points from 22 matches, five points adrift of eighth placed Bloemfontein Celtic and Golden Arrows who are breathing down their neck with a point behind in tenth place.

In the first round meeting, the sides played to a 1-1 draw back in August 2018 in Limpopo.
