The Buccaneers were knocked out of the Nedbank Cup by Cape Town City after losing 1-0 at the Cape Town Stadium on Wednesday.

Milutin Sredojevic’s charges have, however, won their last three league matches and are the closest rivals to league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.

The Buccaneers sensationally beat Soweto rivals Kaizer Chiefs 3-1 in their last league encounter two weeks ago and have moved into second, four points behind Sundowns.

Meanwhile, Abafana Bes’thende have been inactive for two weeks as they did not take part in the Nedbank Cup last-16 after being knocked out by Kaizer Chiefs in the first round.

The Durban-based side are still fighting to avoid relegation and, despite sitting in 10th spot, four other teams are on the same number of points with seven round of matches left to play.

Clinton Larsen’s men drew 2-2 with Polokwane City in Polokwane in their last league clash a fortnight ago.

The game should be replayed because Arrows played most of the second half minus one player. Pirates scored their second goal in the 70th minute when Arrows' player was wrongly given marching orders in the 55th minute. Buthelezi was not going to be sent off as that yellow was going to be his first.

Corrupt referee and his assistants made sure that we play with one man short as early as the 55 minute of the game to give brown envelope club a controversial win.

@khosiological but if your COWS win by the aid of the Refs as usual, you celebrate and you turned a blind eye to that Penalty which was suppose to be given to Pirates

@azzaniawest, as for our queen, @Bridgertte Layun. not being happy, I have not noticed it. There should be no cause for concern. Bucs are playing their games, we are playing our games, so are fau and others, no problem.

@azzaniawest, yes mate, I took a short break after fau and Downs struggled to beat lower division teams, I just thought that amount to bringing the game in disrepute.
