The Buccaneers were knocked out of the Nedbank Cup by Cape Town City after losing 1-0 at the Cape Town Stadium on Wednesday.
Milutin Sredojevic’s charges have, however, won their last three league matches and are the closest rivals to league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.
The Buccaneers sensationally beat Soweto rivals Kaizer Chiefs 3-1 in their last league encounter two weeks ago and have moved into second, four points behind Sundowns.
Meanwhile, Abafana Bes’thende have been inactive for two weeks as they did not take part in the Nedbank Cup last-16 after being knocked out by Kaizer Chiefs in the first round.
The Durban-based side are still fighting to avoid relegation and, despite sitting in 10th spot, four other teams are on the same number of points with seven round of matches left to play.
