Usuthu boosted their chances of escaping the bottom of the log with a 2-1 win over Highlands Park on Tuesday night in Tembisa.

Cavin Johnson’s charges are on a comeback trail after being docked six points by the Premier Soccer League at the behest of FIFA for misconduct.

They are currently bottom of the standings with seven points from 11 games, and could get out of the drop zone for the first time since being sanctioned by FIFA as they are only two points behind Maritzburg United and Black Leopards who are tied on nine points in 14th and 15th place respectively.

Meanwhile, the Chilli Boys extended their winless run to four matches after playing to a goalless draw with Maritzburg United on Tuesday evening in Durban.

The stalemate with the Team of Choice was their second successive scoreless result in the league.
