Starting XI: CT City v Pirates

Absa Premiership Starting XI: Cape Town City v Orlando Pirates 28 April 2018

Absa Premiership

Teams: Cape Town City v Orlando Pirates

Date: 28 April 2018

Venue: Cape Town City

Orlando Pirates will be looking to keep their slim Absa Premiership title hopes alive when they take on Cape Town City.

The Soweto giants moved to within four points of leaders Mamelodi Sundowns after they thumped Bidvest Wits 4-0 on Wednesday.

As a result, Pirates also secured qualification for next season's CAF Champions League after mathematically sewing up second spot.

However, the Buccaneers will need at least a draw today while also hoping Sundowns lose against Ajax Cape Town if the title race is to go down to the final round of the season.

City, meanwhile, stretched their winless in the league to four matches after they drew 1-1 with Polokwane City on Wednesday evening.

Benni McCarthy's men find themselves in sixth spot and are in danger of dropping out of the top eight if they fail to win.

When these two sides met earlier in the season, Thabo Qalinge's solitary strike secured a 1-0 win at Orlando Stadium.

Here's how they line up:

City: 32. Stephens, 2. Mkhize, 16. Johannes, 5. Dove, 12. Fielies, 23. Matsi, 26. Nodada, 10. Patosi, 7. Lakay, 21. Ralani, 31. Juma.

Subs: 1. Walters, 3. Mngonyama, 6. Seedat, 37. Kateregga, 30. Martin, 14. Akosah-Bempah, 20. Moseamedi.

Pirates:  40. Mpontshane, 24. Thopola, 23. Maela, 24. Nyauza, 4. Jele, 45. Mobara, 14. Nyatama, 37. Mlambo, 15. Qalinge, 27. Shonga, 42. Memela.

Subs: 30. Sandilands, 6. Shitolo, 17. Maphanga, 5. Makola, 12. Morrison, 31. Gabuza, 20. Foster.

Whats going on with these Rats acting like they were playing for 2nd position. They were hoping for a win at CPT but they were humbled by PAtosi's stunner. Chiefs beat that Maritzburg team Pitso was praising, we beat them convincingly, the score should have been 4-0.

Mobara,Nyatama & Mlambo playing the same style of football obviously attacking mode will be limited with those guys in the field, now it shows that he was waiting for Downs to slip up and win a league and its unfortunate that next season he won't get lucky wins like this season

Very true,Muum Ruby esp if you consider that at some stage Downs were about 13 points clear above. Pirates made it interesting and gave a good account of themselves.
