Absa Premiership
Teams: Orlando Pirates v SuperSport United
Date: 05 December 2017
Venue: Orlando Stadium
The man who once steered the Orlando Pirates ship will face off against its current captain, as SuperSport United visit Orlando Stadium in a Tuesday evening Absa Premiership clash.
The match is scheduled to get underway at 19h30.
SuperSport returned to league action last week, with a 1-0 win over Ajax Cape Town following their defeat to TP Mazembe in the CAF Confederation Cup final.
That result left Matsatsantsa just six points behind leaders Baroka with six games in hand.
Eric Tinkler’s side will fancy their chances in the ABSA Premiership title race, but they face a stern test on Tuesday against a team that is bound to have something to say about that.
Orlando Pirates have had a mixed start to the season under Milutin Sredojević and sit second on the log with 18 points from 12 games.
Compared to last season’s dismal campaign, which saw the Buccaneers finish a lowly 11th, life has been rosy for the Sea Robbers in 2017/18.
However, their former boss’s form at SuperSport, has turned heads in their camp. Earlier this season, Pirates chairman Irvin Khoza accused their fans of being impatient with the ex-Bafana star while he was at the helm.
Given the praises Tinkler is earning, Micho is well aware that those same supporters may begin to ask questions of him, should he lose the tactical battle on Tuesday evening.
Here's how they lined up:
Pirates: 16. Mabokgwane, 19. Chabalala, 6. Shitolo, 34. Nyauza, 8. Matlaba, 21. Sangweni, 14. Nyatama, 26. Norodien, 11. Memela, 5. Makola, 31. Gabuza.
SuperSport: 1. Pieterse, 18. Nhlapo, 29. Gould, 4. Daniels, 2. Boateng, 8. Furman, 6. Letsholonyane, 28. Mokoena, 13. Phala, 16. Modiba, 11. Brockie.
