The Siya crew reported recently that a senior Mamelodi Sundowns player had rejected a proposed loan move, but indications are that all this could change.
Wayne Arendse is understood to have been deemed surplus to requirements at Chloorkop as the technical team try to make room for the club’s new 13 signings, the old guard said to be among the biggest casualties.
Check out the list of new arrivals at Downs, may who were signed while Pitso Mosimane was still in charge!
Initially, sources had informed the crew that Arendse, 35, preferred to stay put and impart his extensive knowledge on the younger players, while well aware that his game time under joint coaches Manqoba Mnqgithi and Rulani Mokwena would be limited.
A loan move to Swallows FC was first rejected, but, according to insiders, this potential switch could be revisited following the arrival of Brian Onyango at Chloorkop.
The Siya crew reported earlier this month that the Kenyan centre back was spotted at the Downs headquarters despite TTM announcing that he’d signed for them.
Indications are that Onyango has agreed a deal in principle with Sundowns and is expected to be added to their long list of new arrivals.
This, it has been suggested, could then open the door for Arendse to reconsider his decision to remain at Chloorkop – and several DStv Premiership clubs, including Swallows, could be where the veteran defender finds a new home for the 2020/21 season.
