The Siya crew has learnt of a potential first big casualty from the new Mamelodi Sundowns signings as the technical team continues to trim the squad.
It is understood George Maluleka, who arrived at Chloorkop just three months ago as a free agent from Kaizer Chiefs, could go out on loan.
Cape Town City appears to be his likely destination, but there is conflicting information from both camps after the Siya crew went digging.
Downs joint head coach Manqoba Mnqgithi did, however, tell the media on Thursday that new arrivals at the club could be sacrificed to cut down the size.
‘Mido’ was announced as one of the new arrivals at Sundowns on July 1 as his Chiefs era came to an unexpected end. He signed a three-year deal with the Tshwane outfit.
Downs have already allowed midfielder Sammy Seabi (loan deal) and striker Ali Meza to leave the club and more departures are expected.
Siya sources within the City camp and two more close to the player denied any knowledge of Maluleka’s possible move to the Mother City, but two others privy to transfer movements at Sundowns suggested it was imminent.
Prior to his City exit to join Sundowns, there were denials all around from the club’s camp that forward Kermit Erasmus would leave, but he was confirmed by the Brazilians as their player on a three-year contract last week!
